Neighbors. They can be so very interesting. The great news is that the more you move, the more stories you collect.
Right now, I live in a “normal” suburban area and I think I might have some of the weirdest stories here. Well, maybe except for the guy who used to have a mule and was thinking of getting another one until I threatened him with his life. He also had 27 cats and all were breeding prolifically. They liked to hang out in my yard which smelled appalling.
I finally got him to agree to let me get them neutered and spayed through a charity. After some additional begging, I was able to find homes for some of the kittens, so it became less of a hotbed for cats.
He liked to say he wasn’t a drug dealer, but he would make these odd patterns with the back porch light and suddenly, someone would show up at the back door. It was the oddest thing. He also had a few old popcorn machines (those big, state fair-type machines) in his yard. They weren’t functional. They just served as cat beds.
I don’t think he is even that weird, neighbor-wise. I bet you guys could beat him instantaneously.
